Description
2 Inch drypack concrete, with slope for drains. This project required critical precision cement work. The ledge around the pool is the waterline, and would only allow for 3 mm tolerance in elevation, it took some fine tuning, with a laser, she passed with flying colors.

An impressive project. How many buckets of redgard did that take? If you could provide a few more details on materials and procedures, that would be great. I have tiled a couple of pools and hot tubs, but never anything that big.

Thanks Pistolpete, I'll call this stuff "red coat", its a ante-fracture membrane, application with a roller, pink when it's wet, bright red when it's dry. A 5 gallon pail covers 150 feet to 200 feet, usually two to three coats, this job was the first time I used this product, I wondered how well it would adhere to concrete, sometime after this job, I used it in a standup shower and I had to remove a tile before grouting, the membrane didn't let go, it pulled the cement board off the stud. You might want to put on a respirator on if you don't have sufficient ventilation, play it safe. I'll try to post another six photos of this job, I was trying to show the drypack, and the photos are a little dark, I have some sharper photos of waterproofing and tile being installed. Anything else, let me know.

Yes, I have used Redgard extensively. In concrete waterproofing applications the manufacturer recommends a primer coat of 50% redgard and 50% water.

What is now Redgard, was LevelQuick, when I used it last,I can see why the name change,it has to be the same stuff, different pale.

I wouldn't advise mixing 50/50, its water soluble(cleans up with water, when it wet), but you could double check with customer service at 800-272-8786 or they have an extensive web site, you know who they are. Their name, .com

I might talk up the products I use,if they made it worth my while, like a discount.

the thinned down coat is only for priming the concrete, it soaks in and lets the two subsequent full strength coats adhere better. I got that info from the manufacturer.

Right on, I hear ya, I had a call into customer service for my own peace of mind, ended up leaving a message, no callback yet. There was a representative on this project almost daily, watching procedure, with no direction of 50-50 mixing. Maybe by the time they went to the new pale and name change, they found the primer coat was a good procedure, guess I'd know better after speaking with one of their technicians, "why the primer coat?".

Like I said earlier, coincidentally, I did a pull test, tile with multipurpose, stuck to waterproofing on cement board (on the wall), it all stayed together, I was shocked, I still have that piece somewhere, should photograph it and display. There's nothing wrong with this waterproofing,anti-fracture membrane, it's also a vapor barrier.
