I am in the process of laying out dry my floor pattern. It is very difficult because of the many lines that are created by 525 sq. ft. of tile. The tile runs primarily in my very large kitchen and then 3 hallways and laundry room.Four entry doors and 4 interior doorways are involved with this layout. I have what I think is a decent layout but I end up with a 1 1/2 inch tile in front of 2 opposite entry doors. I'm not crazy about this and my wife thinks that something decorative in these hallways would be out of place. (Oh, I forgot. There is a Kitchen Island which I am trying to create symmetry with also)
My Question: Are these small pieces of tile going to be structurally sound and secondly is there any way out of this dilema?
I am going to start the tiling after the Holidays.
Thanks,
Larry

Hi
You've done the right thing, by looking ahead with your layout, to see what size peices you have around the room, but sometimes it's not possible to avoid a small peice somewhere in the installation. Those small peices have just as good a chance as the rest of the tile if you set them properly, so you shouldn't worry about that. If the rest of the layout looks good to you, then it will be fine. In the end, you'll be the only one who notices. ;\)

Bri is absolutely right on the money.
I just want to say good job on figuring out your layout before setting. It's one of the most important parts of a quality install and I know a few "tile guys" in my area that don't even bother.
Good job,
Garrison
