Ok.I've been looking for a new truck/van for a month or so now....looking for a small van really, since it would be more practical for my needs. Been looking at Astro cargo vans...they are reasonably cheap..but I haven't heard too many good things about them mechanically. So..I've come across a Volkswagon Transporter cargo van..diesel..35 mpg...cavernous interior. Heard anything good or bad about this vehicle?

Hi Bri .... all I know is that you never see any VW's broke down alongside the road.

Yeah Bri,they are really ugly ...well,they make good cars...I would be worried about the price of parts and repairs.The advantages of this type of van are that they are roomy,2500 lbs payload,economical(diesel),and handle well with a tight turning radius.

The disadvantages are the lack of power(don't worry,my truck is weak too)and the fact that everyone will think that you're a stubborn German fella(these seem to be the only people who buy this vehicle for work).If it's in good shape,Bri,I would probably buy it too.

Forget that Volkswagon cargo thing...what you need is the Volkswagon Eurovan camper unit. The roof pops up sleeps 4 or? and best of all..the kitchen has a roomy electic icebox to hold an assortment of your favorite brewski!
