Hi Gman
I've used Spectralock on quite a few installations , and here are a few tricks I've picked up from my Laticrete rep and from experience.
1. Wipe the surface of the tile with a wet sponge just before spreading the grout. I wet and spread for an area about 3' x 3'.
2. Keep the room and the A and B envelopes as cool as possible...Spectralock works easier the colder it gets.
3. Get a new sponge the instant the old sponge starts to clog up. We use approximately 8 regular sponges per #1 unit.
4. After the initial clean up, use a scotch brite and a small amount of clean water to clean the surface haze.
5. Mix a small amount (about a Dixie cup) of cascade dishwasher soap into a full bucket of water for a final rinse. The detergent breaks down and dissolves any final haze.
You can dress any joints that need attention at this time.
Tony and I go through about 5 or six buckets of clean water per #1 unit, about 8 sponges , and a few scotch brites. We get those yellow sponges with the scotch brite pad on the reverse side that can be found in the tile aisle at Home Depot (pack of ten for $4).
Our experience has been that we have about 25 minutes of working time, so we hustle to get it all spread! I'm impressed if you were about to mix and spread a full unit by yourself.
