Just got a chance to use some this weekend on 100 sq. ft. of porcelain 6 x 12's. Very impressive. The stuff seemed to clean up even easier than cement based grout.
I don't like having a short window of workability since I don't have a helper but I managed and boy the end result is a very consistent and accurate color grout.
If the price could be brought down some, this would be the ultimate. Hopefully I can talk someone into trying the glow in the dark stuff sometime!

Hi Gman

I've used Spectralock on quite a few installations , and here are a few tricks I've picked up from my Laticrete rep and from experience.

1. Wipe the surface of the tile with a wet sponge just before spreading the grout. I wet and spread for an area about 3' x 3'.

2. Keep the room and the A and B envelopes as cool as possible...Spectralock works easier the colder it gets.

3. Get a new sponge the instant the old sponge starts to clog up. We use approximately 8 regular sponges per #1 unit.

4. After the initial clean up, use a scotch brite and a small amount of clean water to clean the surface haze.

5. Mix a small amount (about a Dixie cup) of cascade dishwasher soap into a full bucket of water for a final rinse. The detergent breaks down and dissolves any final haze.
You can dress any joints that need attention at this time.

Tony and I go through about 5 or six buckets of clean water per #1 unit, about 8 sponges , and a few scotch brites. We get those yellow sponges with the scotch brite pad on the reverse side that can be found in the tile aisle at Home Depot (pack of ten for $4).

Our experience has been that we have about 25 minutes of working time, so we hustle to get it all spread! I'm impressed if you were about to mix and spread a full unit by yourself.

Rob, I just ordered a commercial unit for my shower project so I'm glad I had a chance to read this post first. I wasn't sure how to order it so I made sure to order more than enough to do the job.

Any chance that you can get 1/4 units? For walls, and especially for the first time you use it, I would urge you to try the smaller quantities.

I think the way I understood the dealer is that I'll be getting 4 bags of sand and 2 units of liquid ... but I'm not really sure.
It will be here Monday or Tuesday and I'll let you know. I'll use the extra on other jobs because it's a popular colour (mushroom).

I'll be glad to finally finish that shower.

Hi Rob and Harry,
Appreciate the tips. One thing that may have helped my speedy grouting was my trusty Barwalt Ultra Grouting System. I used one of the complimentary sponges that came with the unit for the initial tooling of the joints and then used an old sponge on the Barwalt for final clean up. Basically no grout haze to deal with.
