I have a Rubi TS-40 which I feel like throwing out the window some days. First, i need a bigger one and second half the time it does a crappy job. I'm in the market for a new one myself. I think Rubi has a lot of tools that are not as great as people think.....Their star-40 does a better job some days which I also have and costed me wayyyyy less.

I agree with you about Rubi tools, they are not the best. I can give a hint, that Sigma also makes tools for real professionals, if there are any available. Not very cheap, of course.
And one more question: how do you cut the mosaic pieces (glass), if you need to do it a lot? Maybe there are some tricks (or a tool), I don`t know yet...Takes pretty much time to do it piece by piece

Hi Kalev

I also have a Montolit Masterpiuma P 63(cm).Great cutter.I still really like my old Japanese Ishi cutter too,44 cm.

Then for small tile I have a 30 cm Sigma "pull" cutter which can also cut those little 20 mm "smalti" glass mosaics in half perfectly .They can be snapped individually while still on the sheet. With the paperface type glass mosaics,I score the underside of those little tiles and snap them each with the breaker on that Sigma cutter. The Montolit breaker also works so that I can snap mounted mosaics such as 5 cm x 5 cm without the wheel hitting the tile first.

Ron, I'm seriously looking for a new cutter. Only problem is I'm only familiar with Rubi and Q.E.P. If you had to purchase anew one would you still go with what you have? What does Tilemaster supply?

Hi Randy

Tilemaster has 24" Montolit cutters, which are excellent, and lesser Chinese or Taiwanese cutters. For a better selection you should go to Tool Academy in Toronto at Steeles and 27.They've got the best selection of tile tools in Toronto.Other tools too.

If you do decide to go with a 24" cutter, the Montolit from Tilemaster is the way to go.You'll get a great deal there since my brother imports them directly from Italy.Ask for Dave,he ain't heavy...he's my brother. \:D (905)841-2333
