I know you guys use flextile before but do you use their grouts? I hate them personally. I cant seem to work the joints using unsanded very well. Anyone else experience this. Actually, I always seem to have a problem with unsanded but this is bad, Any tips for unsanded grouting?

I agree Randy ... although Flextile is probably a good grout, it isn't my favorite to use.

Hi Randy and Harry

Flextile? I think that their grout is the best.I thought that everyone liked them.

I agree that working with unsanded grout is more difficult, especially when trying to achieve smooth, full consistent joints.Sanded grout is more forgiving when it comes to mix consistency and tooling the joints.

I find that the stiffness of the mix and timing(when to wipe) is important when working with unsanded grout. Also depends on the joint size and porosity of the sides of the tile.

What I'm trying to say is that sanded grout is nicer to work with. \:\)

Well, I think I got things under control. I generally use Mapei of Tec grouts, and they all say mix with max 300rpm. Flextile on the other hand stresses an even lower mixing of 150rpm or mix by hand. I grouted another shower and it worked out well. Guess I stirred it too much and altered the molecular balance of the ingredients in conjunction with each other rendering an inadequate mixture thus resulting in an off setting of drying time reducing the overall strength and capabilities of said grout. Or some crazy crap like that! \:D
