I purchased this 4" shower light from HD seeing that it was the only one advertised for shower use. I also went to other stores and found the exact same light but from different manufacturers. But after searching the net and this forum I noticed it is advised to use a light rated for "wet location" and not "damp location" as this light is. There is a little sticker with red lettering on the back of the light that says "damp location". What is is the difference in the light design when it comes to these two specs?

I tried to find a shower light for "wet location" but no one seems to have such a thing.

Am I shooting myself in the foot by installing this light?

If it is classed as a shower fixture your ok.
That light will be fine in your shower.

As long as there is a UL listing label for damp or wet location you know it will be good for a shower area.

diyer, the only diff, I believe from a wet location and non is the lens cover. I just installed a light over my shower which I bought from Depot, and the lens has a gasket around it. Once you install the lens the gasket prevents moisture from getting into the light fixture. And once you put that lens on its a tight seal between the lens and the finished area. Hope that helps.
