Greetings all. I am a "newbie" to this great website. I have a 5 yr.old home with a walkout basement. Concrete basement floor was painted three years ago with a latex based floor paint by Dry-Lock. Floor is 6" thick, put over peastone and plastic and is extremely dry. Paint is in good shape with no pealing or moisture of any kind. I wish to install ceramic over floor. Will thinset adhere to the painted surface. Original texture of concrete is still present as the latex paint was not a "thick" consistency. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are confident that the paint is adhered well to the concrete then I would suggest to just go over it with a premium modified thinset mortar.It's a good idea to "key in" the mortar first,in this case.That means to use a flat finish trowel to tightly skim the floor with thinset prior to setting the tile.Works well to make the subsequent setting mortar and tile stick well to the painted concrete.You can use the same mortar to set the tile.
