Great looking forum here and loaded with lots of useful information. I'm thinking about purchasing one of those washboys. Was installing some new granite counters in a new sub-division and the place next door, the installer in there was using one for grouting the floors. They look like they'd save alot of time and not so messy. Does any one else use them or has used them in the past? Thinking about getting one.
Thanks. Mark

Hi Mark

Was that me? ;\)

I have one and love it. Got mine from Tilemaster is Aurora, but in the last flyer from ProSol, they had them on sale. If you are in Kingston, you can drop in a buy one at their store. They are on Mckay, just west of that big Home Depot mall.

They sure save time cleaning floors, however I don't like the excess water they leave while cleaning. It can leave some grout colours very light or blotchy.

I think Bri has some of those secret sponges ;\)

Yup, the right sponge will actually make it feel like suction over the top of the tile. No water at all is left behind. If you have a bad sponge..well...see above. \:\)

sponge worthy see Jerry Sinefeld if it fits it must stick! In a large area with the right tile you can speed up your service to your customer and get yourself to the next job with all Happy. try it on a larger job and buy one; it will save you "time & $ " Will eventually save you time money and give you a better look to your work! Honest as a Canadian .Ross \:D

No luck sir, they aren't open on weekends. \:\( But, you can drive by and at least know where they are located. \:\) They are in the back, so they are a little tough to see from the road.

Thanks for the heads up on the store hours as well.

Have a good one. Mark

$150 bucks is nonsense. That's centura for you. I mean..it's a plastic pail! I think they were 40 bucks at Prosol...I think I paid 80 from Tilemaster.

I think I paid around 80 from prosol Brian. I've only used it once due to the crappy sponges. Where are you getting the good sponges? A couple years ago you said you had a good sponge is it the same one.. \:D I'm thinking on cutting some of my regular sponges and gluing them on instead. I also have a pedalo used once because of the spong issue. Was like $350 or something like that. Kind of an expensive piece of garage ornament.

I don't know about the other brands, but I've used the Barwalt system for about three years now, and I like it. The sponges last a good while if you clean them after every use, and the bucket holds about 4 1/2 gallons. The whole setup includes the bucket, a large sponge and handle, a smaller sponge and handle, and a scrubber pad, and it costs around $110.

Actually Randy, it is the same sponge from a few years ago. It was a Rubi, that I got from Prosol. It was 11 bucks for the sponge, but how often to you get a few years out of a sponge. Now, I only do the final rinse with this sponge. I do the main wash with the Not So GOod sponge.

Are we talking about the grout system? At least thats what we've been calling it. If it's the same thing make sure you spend the extra money for the metal rollers. Wayyyy nice and you can put some pressure on it to get that extra water out.
