Here's a job done by some of the locals in my area. I'm familiar with the retailer who provided the product and service ... I don't know the tilesetter.
I'm trying to remain unbiased but it's damn hard when I know there's someone else in my area claiming to be a ceramic tilesetter and charging a tradesman's wage for this kind of garbage!
Like I said .... I'm trying to be unbiased.

It looks like they used the cheapest thin set available....and since that is a ceramic tile other than porcelain, it sucked the moisture right out of the thin set. If they had used a decent modified thin set, it probably would have had a decent bond...unfortunatley, a decent bond to scratch coat...which is rubbish.

Any chance these guys are going to come back and fix this Harry? I mean, any job should have at least a 1 year warranty on it.

Even if the job was 3 years old it's a complete disgrace.Don't understand why this company won't just accept that it is a failure and do it again at their own cost. They shouldn't be in business with such a lack of ethics .Makes me angry.

I hope that the customer wins the court case and gets awarded enough to have a good tradesman tear it all out and install it properly.

No chance Brian ... the shop owner isn't taking full responsibility. They've offered the home owners $2000 which is the cost of the tile and installation originally. But now look at the problems created by this mess. These people actually paid the entire bill up front ... nice family and both work, and look what they got for their money.

I think they're going to take the money ... really no other option. The complete lift of scratch and tile would be darn near $2000, let alone the re-installation.

As soon as I see something like that raw tile edge leading to the basement ... I know workmanship is most likely the cause of it all.

By the way Brian ... I found those cement board photos you sent me 2 or 3 years ago. The ones showing a side view of the cbu installation without mortar under the panels. I'm going to get those on a page this weekend.

I couldn't agree more Ron.
I feel so damn bad for these people having this put upon them.
