I phoned the # for the canadian end of things on that site and the guy told me ditra wouldnt work with the slate because my floor isnt strong enough.
The price of ditra there was $ 1.70.sq foot.
the $1.32 must be in the States.

Yes I will be ordering the ditra monday morning from the tile experts.
I tried to get the local flooring guy here to match the $ 1.70 but he would not go below $ 2.40.
The slate arrived today,I didnt realize how uneven the bottom of the tiles are.
I guess I use an unmodified thinset with the ditra?
Any recommendations for the thinset.

RC, would it not make a difference if by chance he were using a lighter colored grout? Wouldn't he need to use white Kerabond in that case?

Well your right Kman, but he's putting in slate. I don't think theres going to be any light coloured grout used.

If you were from my neck of the woods I could have saved you some money.

ya,we were right at the peak of a building boom here when I started to build a year and a half ago.
Things are still more expensive here but are slowing down .
I cant wait for another six months though.

I guess that's a rule I've never heard of before. The last two jobs I did with slate, the customers picked out a grout that wasn't too light, but it definitely wasn't in the dark shades. Is there a reason not to use the lighter colors?
