Most of our forum's tradesmen are well established as experienced and professional contributors to the forums. For some of you newer fellers (contractors or other industry professionals), would you be kind enough to give us a little info on your background before offering construction and renovation advice?
Thanks!

I don't come to the forum very much because my computer is usually controlled by my daughter. I have about 14 years in the flooring business with most of those years working in the ceramic tile business. Before that, I was working with a company in Toronto warehousing and selling ceramic tile and stone (wholesale). I run a crew of myself and 1 fulltime tilesetter / helper who is also an excellent carpenter.
I'm not here to teach or give advice, but I will help whenever I'm able to. I mostly read what some of you other guys write which has been very informative most of the time.

Am I one of the new guys harry? I guess I am. I've been setting tile for about five years and did my apprenticeship with a great european tile setter in West Vancouver. I am about half way done my carpentry apprenticeship, though I am setting tile full time and likely will never finish carpentry now. I also used to build custom furniture.
In tile setting there are usually a few different ways to get things done, some better than others. That's why I love being on this site and continuing to learn.

Not you Pete, or any of our regular contributors. But as new members join it might serve to have at least a little information on their skill in the industry before we set them lose on our visitors.

Just ask them if they know the difference between 'mosaic' and 'mastic'. That ought to weed out the bad ones.

Hi Harry, I know you're busy, and I hate bugging you or anyone else, nice to get fast solutions to your obstacles though, can you Please tell me how to upload an avatar from my PC? I get it, can't be very big but, do I have to type in the whole URL, beginning with //HTTP:// ? You only have to explain it once.
Really,I 'll take help from wherever I can get it, hate to be a bother. Don't have avatar for dummies.
Thanks,GM

Just right click on any photo you want to use, and save the URL and them paste it into the Avatar window in your profile.

Hello everyone. I am a second generation tile setter with over 12 years of experiance. My father has been installing tile and stone for well over 30 years and still does so at the age of 54.
We run a small family contracting company in eastern Ontario. This is a great place to come together and talk shop.
Thanks
Cory

The name is familiar...just can't remember who he is. Is he not a mastic rep or something like that?

Certainly possible, and done fairly often. Try this: http://www.aqua-mix.com/Aqua-Mix-Colorants
