which tile saw is the better type. the bridge type where the saw is moved across the tile or the other type where the tile is on the moving bed and moved into the blade

It depends on the desired application and size of tile that needs to be cut. The majority of tile setters I know use the sliding bed saws, Target being the preferred brand. I have an MK100 and have been very happy with it.
