KG14 Member Registered: 08/24/09 Posts: 25 Loc: Ontario	Hi I'm getting my 3/4 T&G Plywood in the Morning Do I Lay the sheets down with the Grain and Tongue going with the Floor Joist(They are horizontal the width of the house) or do I lay them with the Grain going opposite to the joist's If you need a quick Picture,maybe I can find one to help explain more. So the long direction across the joists. I'd be using longer screws and make sure they're not drywall screws. Pictures are nice. What are your plans for this room? Have you consulted a span chart to verify the joists are up to par if ya doing tiles? KG14 Member Registered: 08/24/09 Posts: 25 Loc: Ontario	I have OSB 5/8's right now and was screwed in with 1" screws and finishing nails and everything else. I have maybe 3 per joist nails-screws On top of that the Idiots cut the 2x4 Sole for the wall,Then go and hide it with a vanity for the next 20yrs untill we decide to do the bath. It starts to get too confusing for anyone to follow all the questions and advice when the posts are in different topic areas. Thanks Is this new layer of plywood going over the old subfloor or directly on the joists? Those are the right screws if your subfloor is going directly on the joists. For second layer plywood installation,the screws should only be as long as the total thickness of the two subfloor panels. The screws should not penetrate the joists. And do not use any kind of subfloor adhesives for the second underlayment layer. _________________________ Randall
