I'm nearing the end of a tub/shower and granite tile installation (I hope!). Tub is in, plumbing done, drywall is up and Kerdi is about to go on.

I need help finding a product to help me finish off the outside corner of a bathtub alcove. Since the rough opening of my alcove was about an inch too large in length, I had to build out the wall on the drain side of the tub. And because of that, I had to also tear off the corner bead that was installed, in order to accommodate. I'm putting the tile right up to the corner and don't really want to put a corner bead back up since they usually don't end up having a perfectly square profile with the wall when finished. I also have to fix up very short section (maybe an inch) of dry wall that was damaged when the corner bead was removed.

I'm thinking of using something like the following Schluter product http://www.schluter.com/2_7_eck_k.aspx

What would you recommend??

I don't know why that wouldn't look just fine.

The main reason I came here to ask, is because I assume that I don't know everything. Someone else may have a better idea, or maybe at least a different one, so therefore I ask.

In fact, I just found out that the one I was looking at is $126 for an 8ft length. So does anyone have an alternate manufacturer of something similar in either stainless steel, aluminum or titanium?

Thanks again!

That's definitely a pricey piece of metal. Does it at least have some 14K gold inlay?

Have you tried to find any tile 1/4 round or some other piece of tile trim that would bridge that corner?

You could do A tile return. A one inch strip of tile running up the side. Then you just need to worry about the corner. There are 3 ways that I have used and like: with Granite the edge of the tile can be polished to look pretty good, so you can have the edge showing. Alternately the two tiles on the corner can be beveled on the wet saw, leaving a grout line. The third and easiest option would be a regular 3/8 Schluter tile edge.
