I am building a shower from scratch. I currently have teh shower framed out. It is a neo angle design using the corner of the bathroom. I plan to use redguard for the liner as I have about 3 gallons that were given to me.

I have spent about 10hrs on the internet and made calls to various companies (including mfg of redgard). I was hoping to build a sloped mudpan and then redgard the top of it. then tile on top of the redgard. The major hurdle I have run into is how to incorporate a drain with the method that I mentioned above.

I have not found any good step by steps, videos etc of this being done? Can someone out there give me a step by step of how to use the redgard in this fashion (mudpan, cover with redgard, and tile on top)? and what type of drain should be used?

I have never done a shower before, but I think that I can pull this off.

Use a Kerdi drain from Schluter. Follow their instructions for building the pan. Then put on 3 coats of redgard and you're good to go. it's good to have a nice smooth finish on the mortar bed before applying redgard, so you may have to skim coat with thinset.

Also make sure to wait a minimum of 72 hours after you place the mud bed, plus 24 hours if you do a thinset skim coat, before you apply any liquid membrane.
