Hello everyone. I am new to this site but really need some help. My husband ordered a custom made tile ready shower base for a new handicapped accessible shower in the new handicapped accessible bathroom. My questions are as follows (Thank you in advance for your patience): 1. Can we still use a Kerdi drain with a preformed tile ready base? 2. What should we use to waterproof the seam between the base and the walls?

Whos shower base is it?
If it's a Tile Ready Shower Base, they have their own built in clamp style shower drain.

This one doesnt come with it's own drain. The company (Columbus block - Mike Foti) said that they would be able to send one for $35 but it is a standard drain.

Oh, the size is 60 x 66 with a built in 18 inch deep bench. Flanged on 3 sides with the fourth side being ramped for wheelchair access. If any of this helps. This seemed to be the best option for us diy'ers who need the handicapped access for a 86 yr old granny and a husband with progressive MS. Not enough money to hire a contractor, but I have done all the tile in the rest of the house with great success. I have NEVER tackled a shower and DH just felt more confident with a prefab tile ready base. I hope it hold up to the task.

A Kerdi drain will not work. You must use a clamp style drain. Same as the one in the pdf drawing.

Your link to the pdf file worked fine.

If you want to post a photo go to the forum section Ceramic Tile and then the subforum Post Photos your having trouble with. Follow the instructions to post your photos.
