Hello,

I have a steam room I am working on where the ceiling tiles are falling. The cement board unit has a blue membrane on one side and contains insulation. Please advise as to the type/brand of cement board and which side of the board should the tile be applied to. Laticrete has a diagram for steam rooms SR614-01, which shows a vapor barrier should be on the back side.

Sorry, I have never seen the cement board you are referring to. Can you possibly give us a manufacturers name?

1/2" cement board from Durock, Permabase or WonderBoard will all work. And yes, you need to follow the Laticrete specs for a steam shower.
