Hi,
I've got my new basement/guest room shower almost finished. My wife is PO'd because it's the nicest shower in the house, but that's another story. grin
I grouted it on Sunday using Mapei grout that I got from Lowe's. After all was finished and cleaned up I was looking at the bag and it says not to "flood the floor" or clean it with cleaning products for 21 days. Does "flooding the floor" mean we can't even take a shower for three weeks? If not, then how long do I have to wait before we can use it. We have guests sharing a shower now. (Well, not really sharing it at the same time...)
Thanks,

Right now I'm not able to pull up the tech sheet for Mapei sanded grout, but I've never advised customers to wait that long. In most cases, three days is long enough, provided the temp and humidity are at a reasonable level.

Hi Kman,

It will still be a couple more days before I have it fully ready for use. If you usually give them three days, then the five or six I will be allowing should be plenty.

Thanks!

There are two types of Mapei cement based sanded grouts with different curing specifications.

Keracolor S - Do not use cleaning products or immersion for 21 days. Flooding or immersion refers to a pool type installation where the finished tile work would be under water. For a normal tub/shower or shower application regular use can commence 48hrs after installation.

Ultracolor Plus - Normal usage can be 24 to 48 hours after installation. Immersion can be 72 hours after installation.

You would be safe to use the shower after 2 or 3 days.

Kman is right, 72 hours is dead on, you can even flood floor if you have to
