I had a plumber put in the pipes and shower pan. Another guy did the rest but never finished and left a disaster. My question is this:

1) The pan was flat and folded over the curb, which is only about 3" high. There are no corner guards. I think water could easily seep over those corners. Am I wrong?

2) The shower floor was literally lumpy and not pitched. The new tile man jack hammered it out. It came out pretty easy but I think it is much better to just rip the thing out and start over. The shower walls are tiled (in glass) but the tile work is dismal. Board was screwed into the curb.

3) The curb has to be raised a little anyway. The new tile man has suggested glueing a new shower pan liner over the old one. I do not like this idea. He says he wants to save me money. But it doesn't save me money if I have to do it over a third time a few years from now.

I will get photos but to top it off my ac compressor was stolen so that will wait till tomorrow

It doesn't sound like your new tile guy is any better than your previous installer.

You need a complete rebuild done the right way. Please browse through some of the tutorials on the home page to familiarize yourself with the correct methods of shower construction.
With that knowledge in hand you will be more informed when talking to an installer about the rebuild. Don't be afraid to question them on their proposed installation details if it doesn't seem to be similar to what you have seen in the tutorials.

Your new guy is not going to save you any money be doing it wrong again. Pay someone to do it right the first time!

Am I correct in believing all the durorock should have a waterprooof system on top but below the tile?

Either that, or plastic behind the durock on top of the studs.

The surface applied waterproofing is the best bet. It allows the shower to dry out faster.
