Warning - long rant!

I'm sure that the majority of the people on this discussion list would prefer paying more for a proper tile job than paying less for a crappy one. Perhaps they have experienced first-hand what happens when it's not done right. That's my issue. I paid a lot of money for a "professional" bathroom remodel in an older house years ago and the tiles above the tub/shower began popping (off lovely mastic no less) within a year. Their "fixit" guy used mastic and reglued the tiles back, over greenboard, and little old me never thought that it wasn't the "Right Way (tm)" to do things. More tiles popped out again a few months later, and I tore the entire moldy, wet mess down, read a few books and ended up doing it myself. It wasn't a pretty tile and grout job, but it's still holding just fine over 3 years later.

I'm more than happy to pay someone to do a quality job. But I'm restoring a 1893 Victorian, it's getting a period bathroom, and it's gotta be done right. So I am forced, by fear of getting a crappy job done, to do it myself. For example, I'm using Daltile 1" hex porcelain tile - took me weeks to find someone here who knew the difference between ceramic tile and porcelain tile. Haven't found a tile guy here who's even heard of SpectraLock Pro. Dazzle additive? Glow in the dark? Nope.
No tile shop here even stocks Irongate subway tile. It's the original stuff, I've had to order it online and have it shipped. So I know exactly what I want, have done painstaking research on what the best materials are how things should be done, mostly from this website.
Problem is finding someone to do the work other than myself, I've got the rest of the house to work on.

So if there is a tile installer in Louisville who can build to the specs I have, which could be viewed as nitpickey and overbearing, please refer them to me. I'm still waiting to get a quote back from the last tile guy, who seemed to be peeved I even thought to suggest what brand of grout he use or ask him whether he preferred Ditra or Laticrete. I just want the work done as reliably and with attention to detail.

My wife just commented after I read her what I typed - you're asking to much as usual. \:\(
