With the help from this site and advises from you I’m slowly getting there. Below are the pictures of the progress. I have some additional questions at the bottom, please help.

I have build the frame

After Installing the pan liner and putting the hardibacker up, installed the bathroom floor tiles.

Level the walls With thin-set

Applied the RedGard

Started tiling the walls

1. What kind of grout should be used in the steam room?
2. On the floor I want to install the 2”x2” stone (see the picture below). What kind of sealer can be used on the stone that is not to slippery? Can or should same sealant be used on the grout?

3. I have cut in the middle the 1” travertine cones to put them on the top of the wall to put the glass on it. I thought that having the glass sealing will be less expensive and less work. The guy at the tile store recommended to use liquid nails instead of stone thin-set to install the travertine, but it sounded little suspicious to me and I would rather take your advise on this.

Very nice work.

Use sanded grout for both wall and floor tile, because it looks as though your grout lines are just over 1/8" on the walls.
Use thinset mortar to install the travertine trim .... use can use painter's tape to hold it in place until it sets up if you have to.

Use a penetrating sealer for your floor tile which can be sealed after grouting.

Curious ... what are you doing at the opening where the tub meets shower wall .... glass block?

You're doing a great job ... send photos when your done.

I will cover the tab opening with the large single piece of the artificial marble (not sure how it’s called, same material that the tab is made of). Changing the tab will be phase 2 of my project and I’m not planning to do it any time soon. I will send you pictures when I’m done with the shower.

I have used white “Versabond” brand, polymer modified thinset mortar using the ¼” x ¼” trowel to set the tiles on the walls. Should I use same mortar to set the floor tiles and travertine cones, or special thinset for the stone should be used? Thanks again for your help.

That shower looks great! I would like to suggest something for that opening. How about tile the Opening ledges and Put a piece of Glass in the Large opening. Give the Bathroom more of a WIDE OPEN look and you could also watch the wife while you shower..LOL

On a serious note.. You made the opening. Think it looks great so it would seem strange to cover it up with the Fake Marble stuff. Otherwise why not have you just made a solid wall there and Tile it?

I’m going to install the glass on the opening in the shower. I misunderstood the question; I thought the question was regarding the opening under the tub. My wife is fully supportive of an idea of the glass.

Going back to the thinset question, should I use same thinset that I have used to set the tile to set the stone tile on the shower floor?

Use an additive.

I think what AlbertaTG means is to use the same mortar which already has the additive (polymer modified).... just mix with water. The important thing is to get coverage on the tile and using a slightly smaller notched trowel will help accomplish it.

Thanks for the help.
You have mentioned about the importance of the full coverage of the mortar under the tile and being honest that is my biggest concern since after tiling most of the rows in the shower I have noticed that the tiles didn’t get 100% covered with mortar, I would say 60% to 80% will be the most that I have got under it. I have pressed the tiles pretty hard while setting, but I guess in wasn’t hard enough to spread all the notches of the mortar. I have checked each installed tile by knocking on it with the screw driver to see if there is any “cavity” under it and it looked like there is no hollow places under it and all the tiles got bounded pretty good. Is there any other way of testing? How big is the issue if I got only 60% to 80% of the mortar under the tile vs. 100%?
