I am designing a 5 star resort (like a Ritz Carlton ) The owner wants to save money and use ceramic tile on the hotel room exterior decks. With the freeze thaw cycles , is ceramic tile an appropriate material to use for these outdoor decks. I have no problem building in positive drainage. I had another individual in the meeting tell me we should not use ceramic tile here due to the freeze thaw cycles .Can you give me any advise. Quality and price are important on this project.

cewramic tile is clay and absorbs water. In winter it freezes and creack>Porcelin does not absorb moisture and is perfect for ecterior work. Use a 2 part thinset/latex to set it in and all should be well

Flash is right .... make sure the porcelain tile is freeze/thaw rated and keep a copy of the tile specs (for your own protection). Waterproofing of the deck substrate is a requirement if there are living areas under the decks ... but something to consider even if not.
As you mentioned ... drainage is very important. Try to find a copy of the Tile Council of America handbook .... lots of good information.

As Flash also mentioned .... the 2 part mortar(latex) is the best bond coat for exterior work, but protect it from water while it sets up. Also .... movement joints should also be used where required.
