Hi,
Just curious. Did you grout your travertine marble first and seal after ? How did it turn out ?
I'm putting 16 x 16 filled & honed travertine and I have had some say seal first and others say seal after grouting.
I'm still not sure. Any advice ?
How high is your transition ?
Cheers,
It was recommended that I seal after grouting, so I've done the grouting aspect, and am just waiting out the manufacturer's 21-day cure period (dang you Flextile!) I had been looking at Mapei which had a shorter cure time, but they didn't have the colour in stock locally when I needed it so I went with the Flextile... The pain of it is waiting to install the baseboards until after I seal, so the wife isn't the happiest being on the planet at the moment
There are several transitions:
1. One is flush to some hardwood I installed at the same time with 1/4" gap, so I was thinking of trying grout-matched caulk & if that isn't too hot, then maybe a small hardwood strip over the seam
2. Two of them are to the top of stairs (one set to basement, one set to sunken living area) so I got some oak trims made to suit my application
3. One is a transition to hardwood in the dining room which has a ceramic inset. This hardwood is ~7/16" lower than the tilebed
4. The last is to the bedroom area hallway hardwood which is ~3/4" lower than the tilebed
I've got some photos here, and I'll have to add the story after lol:
