Having read different opinions on greenboard should I use it or not? I am rebuilding and tiling a showerstall, at the local stores Home Hardware, Home depot they recommending green board. Do we have that cement based backer board here in Ontario? Need advice..... Thank you Frank

Hi Frank Greenboard in not any good in a shower stall..it's ok for areas that are not in direct contact with water. Try Wonderboard, or Durock, or Permabase..or even 1/2 inch Hardiboard. Home Depot will have the Wonderboard, Rona/Cashway will have the Hardiboard, and possibly the Durock...all will do the job for you.

Thanks for the answers guys, found the Durock and Permabase at Home depot, but I had huge problem finding drain with weepholes, now I will have on through Home Hardware from Oatey Canada . Most of the people in stores or plumbers never seen one with weepholes ,this is in St.Thomas and London, Ontario. Is this a big trouble usually for others too or just me?

Hi There isn't an actual hole to see in the drain..so that confuses the average Joe. The weep holes are the holes where the screws clamp the 2 sections together. You'll notice on Harry's how to section, that he cuts the liner away at the holes to allow the water to escape. Chech it out, if you haven't already. http://www.ontariotile.com/drains.html

Thanks for the info on that Bri,seeing this other picture I thought that little rectangular hole at the front is the weeping hole, if not what is it? Or just a different kind of weeping hole???

Hi I think you may be right. That is a nice drain. If the hole goes right through to the inside of the drain,(where the threads are) then I would say that is a weep hole. Nice job with the link by the way.
