Hello all
I'm done drywalling my neo angle shower I used regular sheetrock as I am going to use Kerdi. My question is, If I apply Kerdi up the walls until just past the shower head, what should I put on the top portion and the ceiling? Red Gaurd? or that blue stuff? not sure If Im going to tile the ceiling yet. Also I built a bench out of 2x4 with 3/4 plywood covering the seat and the front, can I just apply kerdi right over top the plywood or not?
Thanks
Mrlen

Hi MrLen
If regular drywall has been used then it would be wise to waterproof the remaining areas uncovered by Kerdi .... and as you mentioned, RedGard or equivalent liquid waterproof membrane will work fine.
If you decide not to tile the ceiling make sure to use a high quality primer and finish coat (paint).

You may apply kerdi directly to the plywood seat BUT it would be much better to build a sloped mortar bed before the Kerdi application giving you run-off and stability.

Thanks alot Harry I really appreciate It. Also I know It's not requared to mud the seems if kerdi is being used, but I have a few inperfections I would like to smooth out, can I use regular drywall mud or could I use an unmodified thinset? Thanks again.

Thinset mortar is always the best ... modified could be used if you're going to let it set up before installing the Kerdi. Either (modified or unmodified) is better than drywall compound.
