At what point do I install the soap dish(5") and the corner shelf(8"). I am using 8X10 tile in the shower vertically. Do I install them at the same time as the tile and use thinset(I am using superflex premium) or do I go back later and install with a different adhesive? Thanks for any help. Rob

Hi Rob,

I always install the corner dishes at the same time I'm install the tiles. Use thinset mortar just as for the tiles. Sometimes when the job requires a standard 4x6 soap dish or towel bars that might get in the way when grouting, I wait and set them just after grouting, using unsanded grout which works great. Do not do this if you're grouting with sanded grout.

Another option is to use a few beads of silicon on the backs of the soap dish and use a bit of hot-melt glue on the back to hold them in place until the silicon sets up. After they set you can add a bead of silicon around the joining edge.
