Does anyone know of a light that is designed for use in an insulted ceiling of a steam/shower enclosure?

Any pot light that has a UL listing for damp location will work.
Also any pot light that is rated for direct contact with insulation.
Better pots also have an Air-Tight specification along with the above specs.

Look for these ratings inside the fixture housing.

The trim has to be rated for a shower enclosure.

Thanks RC.

I have seen many lights that were rated for "damp locations,” but my electrician insists we get one that is sealed, so the moisture will not get up into the metal box that isolates the insulation from the light fixture.

You mentioned one with a seal. Do you know the name of the manufacturer?

Ralph.

Home Depot has a "shower series" that my electrician said "was a great deal for 23 bucks".
You might want to check out those. \:\)

Thanks Guys!

If the light isn't made to be covered with insulation, I'll just use one of the isolation boxes.

Ralph, if you want to avoid the isolation box, look for a fixture with the "IC" rating on it. This stands for "insulation contact" and is designed for insulation to be in direct contact with it without overheating or burning the insulation. It has a thermostat that turns the bulb off when the temp gets to a certain level.

Thanks Kman!
I found one today at a lighting speciality store that also is designed for sloped ceilings which will work perfect for my steam/shower.
