Hi, ive got my shower floor ready and have purchased balinese mosaic pebbles for the shower floor. Can anyone tell me if theres anything specific to putting these down as i have never worked with them before. What size trowel should i use and also what kind of sealer do i put on them to get them to shine up, they are a natural dull color right now. Thanks for any input.

It's hard to know what trowel without seeing the mosaics. I have a 1/8" x 1/8" U notch that works nicely for some mosaics, also a worn out 1/4" x 1/4" U notch, as well as a small V notch that is probably 3/16" x 1/4". The best answer is to use whatever trowel will give good coverage with a lot of ooze through the joints that you have to fight with later.

We also use a soft, worn out grout float for seating or bedding the mosaics in the thinset...this is easier than trying to push individual tiles with your fingers.

Also, you asked about a sealer....from what you said, it sounds like you might like the look of something like Aqua Mix "Enrich and Seal". This is an enhancer that really brings out the colors of the stone. If you can't get Aqua Mix where you live I'm sure Harry or one of the other guys can suggest a brand that is easy to get in Canada.

Ken, I just installed some pepples in a kerdi shower pan today. I'll get them off the camera and post a picture here. The stones that I was using were different sizes so I just used my hands to push all of them into the mortar (modified white). I used a 1/4"x3/8" throwel .... but it really depends on the size of the pebbles.

I used a good quality modified mortar over the Kerdi. The stones are small enough where modified is the best choice (my opinion)
I'll take a photo after I grout tomorrow.

It's hard to tell in the photo ... but I came up the wall to the height of the curb.
