After laying my sloped pre-pan and putting down lath over my curb (only place I'll use lath), I'm kinda second guessing myself as to if I did things out of order.

Questions:
1) Do I mud it in and then put the liner over it in that order?

2) Should I have put some felt paper on the wood first to keep the mortar from drying? I'll slope it on top of course.

If I did screw anything up, what would you recommend to fix it?

The liner should go over the pre-sloped mortar bed ... but over the curb before the lath is installed.

Crap...and thanks. \:\)

Okay, so what is my best solution to fix things?

1) Just jerk the late out and fix whatever breaks with ??maybe thinset.

2) Try to cut the lathe off flush at the junction of the mortar? I'm afraid this would find some way of cutting into the membrane.

I think I know the answer unless you know an option #3.

Hmmm...it's in there pretty good. \:\(

I tried pulling the nails (only nailed outside) and folding it back over to get some leverage, but it sure didn't feel like it was coming out.

Chisel it out and add new mortar vs try to cut it off as flush with the mortar as possible?

What would you guys do?

Use a grinder with a thin cutting disk for metal or use an old chisel and shear the lath where it meets the preslope.

Quick,

Thanks for taking my advice and coming here too. I tried to post an answer to your other posts but it got lost when I posted. Then I ran out of time .

The way your questions were stated made me think that you were doing a few things wrong. Such as:

2) Try to cut the lathe off flush at the junction of the mortar? I'm afraid this would find some way of cutting into the membrane.

What membrane are you referring to here?

Jaz, thanks for pointing me over here. I'm definitely getting up to speed faster here than I was at DIY.

In reference to #2, I was saying that if I cut it off as I have it right now I fear some cut barbs (that lath is sharp) sticking up from the concrete will puncture the PVC membrane when I go to lay it down.

Just remove as much as possible, then knock the rest in with a chisel or? Finally you can cover any sharp edges with caulk, thinset or even tape.
