I've heard a few people mention this seemingly better system of washing down the grout, and although I'm not fully convinced its better than a sponge and bucket, I think I'm going to at least give it a try. Here's what they have to say at "Barwalt Tool Company" (See their site URL below)
 Quote:
Grouting System
This complete grouting system will cut your grouting time by 30-50% and you will never squeeze a sponge again. When grouting, just dip the sponge into the bucket and roll the sponge over the rollers, then start rubbing in a flat circular motion. The slits in the sponge trap more grouting materials than a conventional sponge and the grating in the bucket allows it to rinse clean. This process will tool the joints.

To clean the tile, dip and roll the sponge clean and drag the sponge flat but diagonally this time, across the tile and you are finished! You will be amazed how clean the floor will be and you have eliminated the need to dust as well. You will find this system faster and better than the old way and once you've tried it, the only way!

The Barwalt Ultra Grouting System comes complete with a bucket and two ultra-comfortable cushioned grip handle grout sponges. One is for walls and one is for floors and both use industrial Velcro, which makes changing sponges a snap. Replacement sponges are available. Added bonus! Abrasive and non abrasive 3M scrub pads are available for the wall model.

Harry,
the washbucket set that I have still requires me to be on hands and knees.the sponge has a d-handle that you use same way as regular sponge;circular motion to fill and smooth the joints uniform, then multiple passes to clean the tile and tool the joint. But I don't get my hands wet or have to wear gloves. The design of the flat rectangular sponge really cleans the tile spotless and keeps the joints drier and fuller.I don't think I could ever grout the other way again. And I rarely use a regular hydro sponge anymore.I haven't bought the big washset yet which allows you to clean the grout residue off while standing but I did try it out and would seem to work well only with smoother tiles without much of a "cushion-edge".

Guys
You have me really interested in this grouting system. I've just about had my fill of grouting...anything over a couple hundred feet is like hell. Where did you get it?

Brian :p

I purchased mine at Tilemaster in Aurora.I work exclusively for their customers as an independent tilesetter.I'm trying to encourage them to expand their line of materials and tools to be more geared towards professionals and they are slowly responding.I found one of the best cutters on the market for them at the show in Fla.last year, they imported them from Italy and sold them right away,so they're starting to see the importance and the demand for high quality tools...the cutter was a Montolit Master-Piuma,excellent machine 26".We have a good working relationship and since there is a sizeable shortage of real tilesetters,I'm never sitting at home(however nice that may be).I'm really pressing them to focus more on the tool line, they wouldn't sell much in volume but it will really draw more tradesman in who will also end up buying all their materials and tile there. They import direct from Spain,Italy,Holland,China, etc.

I'll have to take a trip to Tilemaster and see this equipment. It sounds like the answer to many of my grouting woes, particularly the fact that
I HATE IT!
Sorry, I get a little emotional sometimes.

Okay, folks. I've used the Barwalt system on three jobs now, and I love it. I don't think it is problem-free -- nothing is, but it is far superior to using a sponge and a bucket of water. You still need the sponge for cleaning up around the edges, etc., but when you're in the open you can go like the wind.

John,
Who is the engineering wizard that came up with the idea to put wheels on these things? After splashing water all over the place,I took the wheels off.Still waiting for the order from Germany for my stand-up grout wash bucket from Karl Dahm tools.

Hmm. I sort of like the wheels. Guess I need them because I'm apparently much faster than you. ;\)

Got a web site for the outfit in Germany?
